❀ 2nd Konpeito ❀ [Video]
[When the video switches on, she's holding a book- on Pokémon, and sitting in the corner of the Dangan House. There's a paper in her hands, and if you squint, you can make out frantic scrawling in Japanese all over the other side of it, written with a heavy hand- there's imprints on the paper.
Her Mawile is sleeping on the beanbag next to her, and a Petilil carries more books to her obediently. When Saionji takes them, said Petilil goes to bother Ayani instead.] You know... I've been thinking, and... it's so stupidly pitiful.
[A pause. She doesn't elaborate.] ...And what's a legendary Pokémon?

video;
This is a gaming question, her time has come. ]
In the game, it's a Pokémon that there is only one of...and a master ball is useful in catching them, since that one has the best capture rate. There's normally stories about them in the lore, too, I think.
The ones from the game are...Zapdos, Articuno, Moltres, Mew, and Mewtwo. But, there are ones here, too. ...I think.

[It's a bit awkward since they're both in the same house but who cares] I found a story about 'Ho-oh'... which, I'm gonna assume, like its real-life counterpart, is the ruler of all birds or something. Do you know anything about it? [Her memory of folklore and mythological creatures remain steadfast.]
no subject
[ And, actually, she has spent the last month or so reading up on all these new Pokémon, as it happens.
Like a giant nerd, but oh well. ]
Ho-oh seems to be connected to "Lugia" in terms of the mythology here...those two are native to Johto, or so I hear. There's a legend concerning both of them, actually: Two towers...Two Pokémon...But when one burned down, both Pokémon flew away, never to return.
I believe you can still visit that burned tower in this place. That should be Ecruteak...? I'd like to go there sometime.
no subject
Huuuh... it says here Ho-oh was in one of the towers there.
[She's just gonna- ignore the whole Silph Co. idea.] This is all something like a game, so, are there scores? After a while, can you hit achievements, like finding Legendary Pokémon- or getting slaves!
...I wanna go to Ecruteak. [There it is.] But Ayani isn't anywhere as strong as she should be to get through there in one piece! This is so agonizing!
You agree with me too about the other thing, right? It's so stupidly pitiful!
no subject
[ She wants to start collecting her badges, basically. ]
The petilil...? I think it's cute, really. It's true grass-types are sometimes thought of as weaker...but against the right opponent, that's not the case.

Legendary Pokemon are powerful and extremely rare Pokemon. There's usually a myths and legends about them, kind of like this world's dragons and phoenixes.
no subject
[Myths and legends in a world built on myths and legends have got to be the top percentage of myths and legends.] Where can they be found?
no subject
[Hm, where?] No idea, since I haven't seen any for myself. From what I know, Lugia's legend is native to Johto and is probably in the Johto ocean somewhere.
no subject
Just makes the circumstances even more pitiful. [A pause, and an irritated pout.] You agree with me, right?

... Legendary Pokemon? Hhn. [ Smirk. ] I guess a Pokemon that's talked about in Legends. You know, rare. [ Snake never really cared enough to think about it. ]
no subject
Eh, whatever.] But the legends back home become real here! I see Pokémon that are obviously based off kappa, or already extremely powerful spirits.
If there are Pokémon even higher in power... do you know where they can be found?
no subject
Hnn... No idea, kid. I've never really been on the hunt for Legendaries. You should try the kids here that are trying to get all the badges. They'd probably know more about that than me.
no subject
No idea? [A pout.] As old as you look like, I expected you to be able to tell me the legends from experience, teehee! But oh well.

[Audio]
At least the books I've read that include Legendary Pokemon speak as though they don't have multiple instances of them like most of the Pokemon we own.
Are you trying to catch one?
audio response
After all, Legendary Pokémon sound like they're good at picking out the cream of the crop, right?
audio response
I would guess so! That's why they're legendary.
I think the bigger problem is kind of finding them though. You can probably ask the townfolks around. They might be able to tell you a lot, but I don't know if there's anyone that's ever really seen them or be able to catch one.
no subject
...Well, I have all the time in the world! Plus, they were supposed to live in those towers in Ecruteak, right? It's always possible to call them back! [Of course, Legendaries don't really... work like normal youkai, but Saionji's gonna keep dreaming.]
And there's something called a Master Ball... do you know where to get a Master Ball?

Like end of the world stuff or something like that. Weirdly ended on the 21st of December. Wonder if there's some surviving video feeds of it.

Do you have any? I wanna see! Was Ho-oh there? [Rock, though...? She did read something about... she can't recall, dammit.] Did anyone catch any of them!

[Normally Mondo would just go find Saionji to ask that question, but he's kind of in the middle of work. He's got his hair down again and is wearing something other than his Crazy Diamonds jacket - he almost looks presentable. He's leaning on the counter in the Pokémart and obviously not doing a very good job of working, but oh well.]
As for legendary Pokémon... they're apparently somewhere between the regular Pokémon around here and gods. I dunno if you can catch 'em or anything, but that'd be pretty fucking awesome if you could!
no subject
[Here we go again.] Pokémon here, the culture, even the geography is all based off Japan! And yet, even though it's strong and full of life, they decide to give into Western traditions and foreigners' wills still! It's not like good ideas are bad, but most of them just stink up the place!
If it's tailored for Japan, than why is it so sympathetic to people who can't and won't accept it?
[A pause.] I'm definitely gonna catch one, one day! Ho-oh sounds good!
no subject
Y'know, I hadn't thought about it like that. It is really similar to Japan, isn't it? But yeah, there are a lot of customs and shit here that are more western... huh.
[He's not sure what to think about Saionji's rant there, so he's just going to... leave it at that...]
Ho-Oh sounds pretty fucking cool, yeah! I've done some reading on the legends in Ecruteak; the place's pretty cool too!
no subject
[Though...] Someone told me we're technically all foreigners but some people have to be more foreign than others. People from... cannibal worlds, or aliens, or something! It's so weird that the world just readily accommodates them!
[HO-OH YEEEEAH] One day I'm gonna go to Ecruteak and go to the tower! Maybe if I call out or something at the top...
