[When the video switches on, she's holding a book- on Pokémon, and sitting in the corner of the Dangan House. There's a paper in her hands, and if you squint, you can make out frantic scrawling in Japanese all over the other side of it, written with a heavy hand- there's imprints on the paper.

Her Mawile is sleeping on the beanbag next to her, and a Petilil carries more books to her obediently. When Saionji takes them, said Petilil goes to bother Ayani instead.] You know... I've been thinking, and... it's so stupidly pitiful.

[A pause. She doesn't elaborate.] ...And what's a legendary Pokémon?

Legendary means remarkable enough to be famous or very well known or described in, or based on legends. So using the definition itself, we can assume that it's a Pokemon that is famous enough to be written in lore and legend. It's probably so rare that most people aren't even sure it exists, and if it exists, it probably exists as a singular entity.

At least the books I've read that include Legendary Pokemon speak as though they don't have multiple instances of them like most of the Pokemon we own.

Are you trying to catch one?

[Oh hey, it's you again! Saionji's finding Jade's kindness a bit suspicious, even against her tongue-lashings, but eh.] Catching one sounds good! Once I get all the badges and all my Pokémon are strong, I'll go looking! [It's an ambitious plan, but Saionji tells it with a huge grin on her face.]

After all, Legendary Pokémon sound like they're good at picking out the cream of the crop, right?

[Jade is just actually really nice! Even if she thinks Saionji is kind of a fuckass. But she is patient and she has dealt with angry capslock, so this is not as bad.]

I would guess so! That's why they're legendary.

I think the bigger problem is kind of finding them though. You can probably ask the townfolks around. They might be able to tell you a lot, but I don't know if there's anyone that's ever really seen them or be able to catch one.

...Well, I have all the time in the world! Plus, they were supposed to live in those towers in Ecruteak, right? It's always possible to call them back! [Of course, Legendaries don't really... work like normal youkai, but Saionji's gonna keep dreaming.]

And there's something called a Master Ball... do you know where to get a Master Ball?

[It's a bit of a wonder how Jade is so nice after having her dream self die and then dying herself via explosion. Who even knows.]

I don't think they're gonna just come because someone called for them. That would be too easy. [She guesses that at least the other is optimistic about this, albeit, a little unrealistic.]

Not really. The stores don't normally hold it, so it's probably specially manufactured. It would be cool to get ahold of one though. I could dismantle it and see how it's made and how they get it to work. [Her nerd is showing.] I wonder if it's possible to gather the materials on my own to create them. I can dismantle a Pokeball I already own!

[Playing Sburb and optionally becoming a God really changes your perspective on things.] Awww... well, I need to try!

And that sounds nice and all, but if I got a Master Ball I won't let you touch it. Too much chance of you stealing it, or messing up terribly!

[Or not at all, apparently.] It's worth a shot!

If I really wanted to steal it from you, I could probably find ways. I don't really want it other than for research anyways. I wouldn't want to own a Legendary Pokemon either. [She would love to study one. Just not own it.]

Okay, that's true. But why don't you wanna own a Legendary Pokémon? The power... the history... they sound like huge time capsules, and weapons too!

You can make eeeveryone submit to you! They'll have to, or else they face certain death!

I guess because it sounds like you lose all of that by confining them. They're not really legends or legendary if they've been captured. And it's not all that great being powerful. It comes with a lot of responsibility, actually. You think you can do all sorts of things, but it's not actually like that. [Jade telling it how it is.]

Besides, there will be people who'll want to be friends with you because you're powerful, but they don't actually care about you. Just the power you possess. You'll make a lot of enemies and it doesn't sound all that fun.

Killing people doesn't sound all that great either. If you kill people, than who will want to willingly be your friend?

It sounds pretty shitty.

Ehhhh? Well, it's not like capturing is a permanent thing, right? By how they sound, our lifespans are probably just a blink of an eye to them. Even if people come here postmortem, they're said to age, so I'm assuming there's a cap to everything- even the no-death rule here.

[She's gotten a bit grim.] And all that stuff about power? Trust me. Maybe not in your world, but back in my world, that's exactly how it already worked. I'm used to it. I function best in that position. Getting power fits all of my interests!

And anyway, who said anything about friends? Friendship is just a big pity party for those without power. The slaves, the weaklings, plot together and convince themselves they're not that pathetic by calling themselves 'friends'. Everywhere humans exist, the world is split into two- you can be a strong person who chose noble origin, like me, or a pitiful slave only capable of serving the upper class.

I've recently discovered you can be a slave and become strong, and be strong and be a slave. But the line's still clear as day. That's why I don't need friends... once I get strong, you'll have no choice but to serve me as my slave.

[It sounds... rehearsed, almost. She used to say that speech with such zest, too...]

Don't you get lonely that way, though. You can have the entire world under your fingertips, but then what? What happens after you're at the top?

Even if they have to treat you as someone above them, do they actually truly respect you if you treat them as a slave? Are you actually happy that way?

Especially here, where this world isn't about being in a position of power. Are you actually having fun right now by not having friends?

Lonely? Pffft. I don't care about such silly things. When I'm on top, I'll just enjoy it! Order people to peel my grapes, enjoy the hot springs alone, eat all the sweets I want...

I live for myself, by myself! I couldn't care less what others think about me! And fun-

I'll enjoy myself, fun is something I get from making others have big reactions and cry, so it'll come hand-in-hand! And anyway, it's not like I have... no friends. I guess I have one ally worth calling a friend.

I just need to wait for her. That's all.

But you don't have to only have one friend. You can make more friends here while you wait for her. Wouldn't that be fun? To have more friends?

[She thinks having a lot of friends is a lot of fun. Just having so many people around is nice. Even if it's scary and overwhelming.]

What, getting more friends and surrounding myself in a huge pity party? Pathetic. I won't stoop so low that I actually seek out friends! If they're worthy, they'll come to me.

That would have more impact on someone who actually cares about not having friends.

I'm not saying you're a stupid pig because you don't have general knowledge! I don't care if you can do nuclear science- not that it matters much, because the science scene is running with crooks and corrupted hogs who look down on culture and history.

It doesn't matter how much you know, how well you can do it, and details like that! If you're still naive enough to believe in friendship more than power, or even worse, think friendship is power, you're still stupid.

I'm not naive enough to think it! Where I came from, the only way to get anywhere was through teamwork, but you wouldn't understand because you're too busy acting like a queen and own the place.
