[Who's the most terrible trainer in the world? Saionji Hiyoko, that's who. In any case, she's staring at the video screen, a Vaporeon sitting on her lap. And both of them looked pissed as hell.

Hey, it's not like Saionji didn't even notice Naoryuu was gone!... Okay, yeah, she didn't. But that doesn't change the situation right now.]

When I find out who took my Eevee and forcibly evolved him into a Vaporeon when I wanted an Umbreon, I'll have you publicly stoned! Since execution isn't an option here, I'll have to do with torture. You won't get away with this, slimy pig!

ACTION

[Said Vaporeon is currently paddling in the large pond behind the Gym in Violet City. Saionji is sitting at the edge and pouting. Her Petilil is hopping up and down the road bobbing sweets and biscuits on its head from... god knows where to Saionji, but always ends up having to go back to town for more because it gets splashed in the face and dragged into the water by the Vaporeon frequently. Saionji doesn't seem to care much.

[Who is this girl why is she staring at me- IS THIS THE MEANING OF STAGE LIFE SAIONJI HAS BEEN TALKING ABOUT? Naoryuu dissolves into water and leaps up at Jade, putting on a face as cute as possible.

...In the mean time, her Petilil actually reaches Saionji. And when she turns to look at it-]

HEY! HANDS OFF THE POKÉMON! IF YOU STEAL IT, I'LL SKIN YOU ALIVE! [From behind, Saionji doesn't recognize the girl.]

[Jade starts petting Naoryuu. So cute! Soooooooooo cuteeeeeee!]

I'm not stealing! I am just petting your Vaporeon. [She isn't paying attention to Saionji, because she wants to put all her attention to Saionji's Pokemon apparently.]

[Hold on a minute.] ...It's you! What are you doing here?! You're going to steal my Pokémon out of spite, aren't you?!

[gardentrainer]

Oh my goooood. [You're so ridiculous.]

Who even steals Pokemon because their owner is being a big baby?! I don't exactly look like some 90s cartoon villain I'm pretty sure! I'm here to get the badge while I travel with my friends. It's not like I can't be in the same city as you are at the same time.

Just because I think you're being a dumb baby doesn't mean I'm going to steal your shit. I don't need to steal your Pokemon when I can get them on my own.

I'm not a baby, you dumb pig! And in case you didn't know, there are Pokémon being stolen everywhere now- so keep your hands off unless you want to look suspicious!

[Naoryuu is having an opposite reaction to Jade, and is 'Vapor!'ing rather affectionately. Saionji, though, is still staring daggers at her.]

You are the biggeeeeest baby. [Queen of babies even.] And you're kinda being paranoid. If you think everyone for now on are suspicious because they want to admire your Pokemon, it makes you sound kind of crazy. One person doesn't make everyone bad.

[A beat.] Is your Pokemon still missing then? [Because that would be sad.]

I said I'm not!

And everyone is bad, aren't they? Anyone is capable to stealing my Pokémon, especially when my eyes are off just for a second! What's wrong with being paranoid if it keeps thieves away? [...And potential friends, too. Bordering paranoia??? Not at all!!!]

No. The Pokémon that went missing was Naoryuu. [The Vaporeon responds to that name and leaps to Saionji's side.]

And I'm still saying you are.

That's kind of a really sad way to look at things. But then, that makes you bad too, if everyone is bad. I mean, if we're all bad guys to you, then you're a bad guy to everyone else. But most people aren't going to steal your Pokemon. Besides, if you're paranoid about everyone being against you, then why would you want to ask people for help? By your logic, everyone wants to poison your food and do terrible things all the time. You'd have to hunt and gather and cook all your own food to avoid people potentially trying to sabotage you or something. [And that's kind of crazy!!!]

But Naoryuu is so cute! Wait. Why did they give your Pokemon back to you?

[...That's a bit closer to home than she likes, Jade. Quite exaggerated, but too close to the life before murderisland and this world. Which just fuels Saionji's stance that Jade doesn't know shit.]

You're reeeeally too naive, you know! Of course, they don't do it all the time... they treat you nice when they want something back. After that, though, it's free-reign!

How am I supposed to know that? I had a network post earlier, and it happened to a whole group! Pokémon were forcibly taken and evolved, then returned for some reason! It sounds like a pretty lame stint for attention, if you ask me.

[Jade is just under the assumption that Saionji doesn't really know a lot herself.]

If I'm naive, then I really don't care! I'm happy as I am. [Besides, Jade might be some island child who doesn't know a lot about society, but she definitely isn't a pushover.] I like meeting people, but I have my friends and I'm happy with that too.

That doesn't make any sense. Why would someone want to just evolve a Pokemon and give it back? [It sounds kind of dumb.] Have they gotten caught yet? They must be part of the Team Rocket organization I heard about before.

Maybe you are, but when your so-called 'friends' decide they're tired of you, don't start crying! [ASSUMPTIONS EVERYWHERE...]

I have to agree on you for that, though. It's stupid! Unless they just wanted to study evolution to... make some super-evolution, or something.

As much as I'd love for my friends to be friends with me forever, it doesn't mean we might stay friends for the rest of our lives. Although, I like to think that we'll at least be friends for awhile since we've all died at least once for one reason or another! [Usually the friends you die and come back with are keepers, right?]

That seems like a dumb way to go about it. Unless they can figure out mutations, Pokemon seem to follow certain paths. But just evolving Pokemon probably wouldn't cause a mutation. Mutations are usually something that are acquired to help with survival. What use is there to just randomly evolve them? Other than to speed up the process. But that sounds like it would make Pokemon weaker because they didn't get the adequate training in the first place.

...What? [OTHER WORLDS ARE SO WEIRD...] If you're lying, that would be lame. But does that mean your world has... magic, or something?

Don't ask me! I'm not so idiotic as to fake my own Pokémon getting stolen. [She didn't get half of what you said anyway. What is evolution??? Totally paid attention in mandatory education, guys.] Team Rocket sounds like an organization from a bad sci-fi movie, though, so maybe they'll do that. All stolen Pokémon that were brought up to me were evolved by items and not levels or 'friendship', so they're probably trying to force item evolution on something.

[gardentrainer]

Who lies about that? Dying isn't fun! [That sounds like a dumb thing to lie about anyways.] Yeah, it had magic. I could make things like battleships and entire planets shrink or move them or make them bigger. It was pretty neat.

Hmm. So they're trying to bypass item evolutions. But yes! Team Rocket is an organization that does bad things. I've heard that they try and steal Pokemon or cause trouble, so this might be one of those instances.

They're like the evil organization bring brought into a bad sci-fi film! Writing them into a story like this just means something is gonna go wrong.

With how stupid they are, though, they won't succeed much.

[Jade is pretty easy going, and it's not like the other harassed her a lot like the trolls did.]

I think there's too many of us for them to really ever overtake. But I wonder if whoever evolved all these Pokemon is gonna try to do it again. That would be unfortunate.

[As much as a shithead Saionji is, she's still human. And plus, there's less pressure and curses spewing from her than, say, anyone faced with the apocalypse of their world.]

It's a bit dumb and overused, that in all the stories, the hero always wins. I have a thing for books where the hero is perceived by the reader as a villain. [Oh god if she ever finds out that Komaeda liked a book like that too...] But this is a kid's story, so it'll probably be a clear-cut, lame Good verses Evil thing where good triumphs. Pfft.

I don't think there's really a Good versus Evil thing here. There doesn't seem to be a real ending. We kind of just keep collecting Pokemon and doing things.

Like, there isn't really anything happen! We kind of just go about our business and sometimes stuff happens once in awhile. I don't know if there's a real way to win here unless you beat every trainer that exists here. Winning is kind of whatever you want it to be.

Just wandering around without a goal... 'winning is whatever you want it to be'... it's such a stupid utopia, you think there's gotta be something terrible going on in the background.

[Utopia is never as it seems. Such is television shows and stories.]

From how the Pokemon games went from what I remembered, there probably isn't as much terrible things happening as we like to think. It's a stark difference from probably your world and mine. Maybe there are terrible things happening, but things seem to be at peace for the most part.

[How does the government here even work man.]

It is one of the first video games, though... all in black-and-white, with people wanting to brainwash children into thinking the world is great...

The game is kind of ridiculous if you think about it. You go on some adventure by yourself and you're probably around ten.

You didn't have to talk to me. I just wanted to pet your Vaporeon because they were cute.

I was able to shoot rifles way before I was ten, so maybe not.
