[In any case, she'll find John washing his hands in the kitchen, a number of cake ingredients out on the counter. True enough, boxed mix is nowhere in sight. He's wearing a Machamp-themed apron because John has some really amazing friends who give him wonderful Christmas presents.]

Yup! They sure do. [He walks over to the oven, turning a dial to get it started preheating.]

Well, first we measure out our ingredients so we can mix up the batter. We start with the dry stuff first, specifically. I think it works better to get them sort of combined together first before things start getting mushy.

[He hands her a one cup measure, keeping the half cup for himself.]

The two things we need the most of are flour and sugar, two cups of each. If you want to get the sugar, I'll get the flour.

Ehhhh... okay! [DON'T FUCK THIS UP, SAIONJI.

Okay, she's actually good with hand-eye coordination, so the sugar goes into the cup without spillage. YEAH. ACHIEVEMENT! Even though she has to tiptoe to get a really good eye on it.]

I have one cup! [LOOK LOOK SHE GOT THE CUP OKAY LOOK BE PROUD OF HER]

Hehe, good job! [He nudges a large mixing bowl over her way after pouring in the second cup of flour. Just pour it in there and repeat.

I'm done! What now? [THERE'S STILL A TON OF INGREDIENTS AROUND...] Do we put in the eggs and stuff?

Nope, not just yet! There's still some other things we have to put in first. For example... [He nudges a box of cocoa powder over towards her.] Kind of hard to make a chocolate cake without this in the mix, you know?

But we don't need nearly as much of it as we did the other two. Just three fourths of a cup.

[And while she does that, he picks up the teaspoon measure to start measuring out baking powder.]
